መታጠብ ማለት ራስን ማጠብ ነው (To wash oneself, we say “መታጠብ”)ማጠብ ማለት ሌላን ሰው ወይም እቃን ማጠብ ነው (To wash another person or thing, we say, “ማጠብ”)ማስታጠብ ማለት ለሰዎች እጃቸው ላይ ውሃ ማፍሰስ ማለት ነው፤  በተለይ ለእንግዶች። ማስታጠብ means pouring water on people’s hands, especially for guests.
ፊቴን ልታጠብ ነው። I’m going to wash my face. ልብሴን ልጠብ። Let me wash my clothes.ቆይ እኔ ላስታጥብህ። Wait, let me pour water for you  
እግሬን ልታጠብ ነው። I’m going to wash my feet.ልብሴን ላጥብ ነው። I’m going to wash my clothes.ና እጄን አስታጠበኝ። Come and pour water on my hands.
እጄን እታጠባለሁ። I wash my hands.ልብሴን አጥባለሁ። I wash my clothes.እጁን አስታጥበው። Pour water on his hands.
ፊቴን ታጥቢያለሁ። I washed my face.ልብሴን አጥቢያለሁ። I washed my clothes.እጃችንን አስታጥበን። Pour water on our hands.
እጄን ታጠብኩ። I washed my hands. እግሬን ታጠብኩ። I washed my feet. ልብሴን አጠብኩ። I washed my clothes.እጃቸውን አስታጥባቸው Pour water on their hands.
አሁን አትጥራኝ፣ ገላየን እየታጠብኩ ነው። Don’t call me now, I’m taking a shower.አሁን ልብሴን እያጠብኩ ነው። I am washing my clothes now.እጇን አስታጥባት። Pour water on her hands.
ሁልጊዜ ጁምዓ ጁምዓ ገላየን እታጠባለሁ። I take shower every Friday. ገላየን means My body  ሁልጊዜ እሁድ እሁድ ልብሴን አጣጥባለሁ (አጥባለሁ)። I always wash my clothes on Sundays. 
ትእዛዝ፡
እግርህን ታጠብ። Wash your feet.
ልብስህን እጠብ። Wash your clothes.
ልብሴን እጠቢልኝ። Please wash my clothes for me.
ህፃኑን ገላውን እጠቢው። Bathe the baby.
ፀጉሯን እጠቢያት። Wash her hair.
ልብሳቸውን እጠቢላቸው። Wash their clothes for them.
እግርህን ታጠብ። Wash your feet.
ልብስህን እጠብ። Wash your clothes.
ጥያቄ፡
ልብስ መቼ ታጥቢያለሽ? When do you wash clothes?
ዛሬ ገላችንን እንታጠባለን? Shall we bathe today?
የኔንም ልብስ ታጥቢልኛለሽ? Will you wash my clothes for me too?
እጅህን ታጥበሃል? Did you wash your hands? for male
እጅሽን ታጠብሽ? Did you wash your hands? for female
መቼ ነው ልብስ የምታጥበው? When do you wash clothes?
የኔንም ልብስ ታጥብልኛለህ? Will you wash my clothes too?
መኪናየን በስንት ብር ታጥብልኛለህ? For how much money will you wash my car?
 እስቲ መኪናየን እጠብልኝ? Please, wash my car?
አሉታዊ መልስ፡
ልብስ እያጠብኩ ነው። I am washing clothes.
እምቢየው ገላየን አልታጠብም። (አንዳንዴ ህፃናት እንደዛ ይላሉ) No, I don’t take shawor.
ውሃው ይቀዘቅዘኛል አልታጠብም።     
The water will cold me, so I won’t take a shower. (It’s too cold, so I won’t take a shower.)
ገና ልብስ አጥቤ አልጨረስኩም። I haven’t done the laundry yet.
አላጥብልህም። I will not wash for you.  
አልታጠብኩም። I didn’t wash.
እኔ ትናንትና ስለታጠብኩ ዛሬ አልታጠብም። I will not bathe today because I bathed yesterday.
ገና አልታጠብኩም። I haven’t showered yet.
ገና ልብስ አላጠብኩም። I haven’t done laundry yet.
እኔ ልብስ አላጥብም። I don’t do laundry.
ልብሴን በሌላ ሰው ነው የማሳጥበው። My clothes are washed by someone else.
እሷ ምግብ ብቻ ነው እንጅ የምትሰራው ልብስ አታጥብም። All she does is cook, she doesn’t wash clothes.
እግሩን አልታጠበም። He did not wash his feet.
እጁን አልታጠበም። He didn’t wash his hands.
ሳይታጠብ ነው ምግብ የሚበላው። He eats without washing.
እነሱ እጃቸውን ሳይታጠቡ ነው ምግብ የሚበሉት። They eat without washing their hands.
እጅን ሳይታጠቡ መብላት በጣም ነውር ነው። It is very shameful to eat without washing hands.
የዱሮ ሰዎች እጃቸውን ሳይታጠቡ ምግብ ይበሉ ነበር። Ancient people used to eat without washing their hands

And Muslims call washing for prostration ‘ውዱእ ማድረግ’ ‘Making Wudui’ instead of “መታጠብ”.

ውዱእ ላደርግ ነው። I am going to perform ablution.
ውዱእ አደርጋለሁ። I perform ablution.
ውዱእ አድርጊያለሁ። I have performed ablution
ውዱእ አደረክ? Did you perform ablution?
ገና አላደረኩም አሁን ላደርግ ነው። I haven’t done it yet, I’m going to do it now.
የውዱእ ማድረጊያ ውሃ ስጠኝ። Give me ablution water.
ውዱእ አድርጊና ስገጂ። Make ablution and pray.
