መታጠብ ማለት ራስን ማጠብ ነው (To wash oneself, we say “መታጠብ”)ማጠብ ማለት ሌላን ሰው ወይም እቃን ማጠብ ነው (To wash another person or thing, we say, “ማጠብ”)ማስታጠብ ማለት ለሰዎች እጃቸው ላይ ውሃ ማፍሰስ ማለት ነው፤  በተለይ ለእንግዶች። ማስታጠብ means pouring water on people’s hands, especially for guests.
ፊቴን ልታጠብ ነው። I’m going to wash my face. ልብሴን ልጠብ። Let me wash my clothes.ቆይ እኔ ላስታጥብህ። Wait, let me pour water for you  
እግሬን ልታጠብ ነው። I’m going to wash my feet.ልብሴን ላጥብ ነው። I’m going to wash my clothes.ና እጄን አስታጠበኝ። Come and pour water on my hands.
እጄን እታጠባለሁ። I wash my hands.ልብሴን አጥባለሁ። I wash my clothes.እጁን አስታጥበው። Pour water on his hands.

አሉታዊ መልስ፡
ልብስ እያጠብኩ ነው። I am washing clothes.
እምቢየው ገላየን አልታጠብም። (አንዳንዴ ህፃናት እንደዛ ይላሉ) No, I don’t take shawor.
ውሃው ይቀዘቅዘኛል አልታጠብም።     
The water will cold me, so I won’t take a shower. (It’s too cold, so I won’t take a shower.)
ገና ልብስ አጥቤ አልጨረስኩም። I haven’t done the laundry yet.
አላጥብልህም። I will not wash for you.  
አልታጠብኩም። I didn’t wash.
እኔ ትናንትና ስለታጠብኩ ዛሬ አልታጠብም። I will not bathe today because I bathed yesterday.
ገና አልታጠብኩም። I haven’t showered yet.

እኔ ልብስ አላጥብም። I don’t do laundry.
ልብሴን በሌላ ሰው ነው የማሳጥበው። My clothes are washed by someone else.
እሷ ምግብ ብቻ ነው እንጅ የምትሰራው ልብስ አታጥብም። All she does is cook, she doesn’t wash clothes.
እግሩን አልታጠበም። He did not wash his feet.
እጁን አልታጠበም። He didn’t wash his hands.
ሳይታጠብ ነው ምግብ የሚበላው። He eats without washing.

And Muslims call washing for prostration ‘ውዱእ ማድረግ’ ‘Making Wudui’ instead of “መታጠብ”.

ውዱእ ላደርግ ነው። I am going to perform ablution.
