Meramed is an Amharic verb that means rushing forward

Meramed / መራመድ is a verb that means rushing forward.

When we want individuals to hurry, or when we are walking along the road with others and the people with us are being dragged back, we can say to them as follows in Amharic:

For male:

  • ተራመድ / Teramed. (come, come.)
  • ራመድ ራመድ በል / Ramed Ramed bel. (Come quickly.)
  • ምን ይጎትትሃል፣ ራመድ ራመድ አትልምንዴ! / Min ygotithal? Ramed Ramed atilmndie? What pulls you back? Don’t you come quickly?
  • እየተራመድኩ ነው። Eyeteramediku new. (I’m walking.)
  • አንድ እርምጃ ወደፊት ተራመድ / And ermja wedefit teramed. (Take a step forward.)

For female:

  • ተራመጅ Terameji (come, come.)
  • ራመድ ራመድ በይ/ Ramed Ramed bey. (Come quickly.)
  • እየተራመድኩ ነው። Eyeteramediku new. (I’m walking.)
  • አንድ እርምጃ ወደፊት ተራመጅ / And ermja wedefit terameji. (Take a step forward.)

For Plurals:

  • ተራመዱ Teramedu. (come come.)
  • ራመድ ራመድ በሉ Ramed ramed belu. (come quickly.)
  • አንድ እርምጃ ወደፊት ተራመድ / And ermja wedefit teramed. (Take a step forward.)

Synonym for Teramed in Amharic:

  • ቶሎ ቶሎ ና። Tolo tolo na. Come quickly. (For male)
  • ቶሎ ቶሎ ነይ። Tolo tolo ney. Come quickly. (For Female)
  • ቶሎ ቶሎ ኑ። Tolo tolo nu. Come quickly. (For Plural)

ተራማጅ (Teramaji) is an adjective that means progressive.

ለምሳሌ፣ “ሙሐመድ ተራማጅ አስተሳሰብ ያለው ሰው ነው።” ማለት እንችላለን።

For example, we can say, “Muhammad is a progressive thinker.”
