አመልካች ቅጽሎች (Article)
አመልካች ቅጽሎች are suffixes we use in Amharic to make nouns definite and known. The Amharic definite nous in the red color are the same with the English definite articles. Let’s continue to look at the indefinite and definite Amharic nouns below.
To indicate a masculine noun, we add a ü to the last letter of the noun.
ለምሳሌ፦ ሰማይ = ሰማዩ
When we press on “u” on our keyboard after we write “ሰማይ” it will become ዩ, ሰማዩ.
To indicate a feminine noun, we add the vowels ‘i,u,’ or ‘ua’ to the last letter of the noun. Example:
ድመት = ድመቲቱ (i+u) ድመቷ (ua)
