Amharic Demonstrative Pronouns
Demonstrative pronouns are called አመካች ተውላጠ ስሞች in Amharic. And they are extremely helpful to indicate things. They are listed below:

ይህ This ያ That | To indicate singular nouns | ይህ እኔ የምፈልገው ዘገባ ነው። This is the report I want. (ያ) የሚገርም ነው! That is amazing! |
እነዚህ These እነዚያ Those | To indicate plural nouns | እነዚህ የኛ ልጆች ናቸው። These are our children. እነዚያ ቤተሰቦቻችን ናቸው። Those are our families. |
ይህ This እነዚህ These | To indicate the nearest ones in terms of space and time | እሱ ይህንን ሰጠኝ። He gave me this. እነዚህ የኔ መኪኖች ናቸው። These are my cars. |
ያ That እነዚያ Those | They are used to indicate something that is located at a far-distance place or time. | ያንን ተመልከት። Look at that. እነዚያ መጥፎ ቀናቶች ነበሩ። Those were bad days. |
They replace nouns and indicate whether the thing or person is near or far.
ይህ (This) = Points to something near.
ያ (That) = Points to something farther away.
እነዚህ (These) = points to multiple things near.
እነዚያ (Those) = Points to multiple things farther away.
