Talking about finishing a project
Greeting and talking about finishing a project in Amharic:
- Person A: ሰላም፣ እንዴት ነህ? (Selam, endet neh?) Hi, how are you?
- Person B: ደህና ነኝ፣ አመሰግናለሁ። አንተስ? (Dehna negñ, amesegnalhu. Antes?) I’m good, thanks. How about you?
- Person A: እኔም ደህና ነኝ። ፕሮጀክቱን ጨረስክ? (Eñem dehna negñ. Project-un chereresk?) I’m fine too. Did you finish the project?
- Person B: ገና አልጨረስኩም፣ ግን ልጨርስ ተቃርቢያለሁ። አንተስ ጨረስክ? (Genna alcherereskum, gign lchers teqarbiyalehu. Antes chereresk?) Not yet, but I’m almost done. How about you? Did you finish yours?
- Person A: እኔ ትናንት ጨረስኩ። እርዳታ ትፈልጋለህ? (Enie tinant sheresku. Erdata tfelgaleh?) I finished mine yesterday. Do you need any help?
- Person B: በጣም አመሰግናለሁ! ለመጨረሻ ማስተካከያ እርዳታ ሊያስፈልገኝ ይችላል። (Betam amesegnalhu! Lemechereshia mastekakea erdata liasfelgen yichilal.) That’s kind of you! I might need some help with the final edits.
- Person A: ችግር የለም። ስትዘጋጅ ንገረኝ። (Chigr yelem. Sitezegaj nigeren.) No problem. Let me know when you’re ready.
- Person B: በጣም አመሰግናለሁ! በኋላ እደውልሃለሁ። (Betam amesegnalhu! Behwala edewulihalehu.) Thanks a lot! I’ll call you later.
